Monetta
for violin and piano is the latest piece on the disk composed with CALMUS.
It was completed in 1997 and recorded in 1998 by Sigrun Edvaldsdottir
and Snorri Sigfus Birgisson. It was selected to be performed at the
Nordic Music Days festival in Stockholm in 1998.
ThriThraut
was composed in 1993 by the request of the Icelandic clarinet trio Chalumeaux.
The instrument range of the piece is from Basset horn up to Eb clarinet.
The piece was first performed in June 1993, by the Chalumeaux-Trio
and recorded in 1994 for the National Radio in Iceland.

Erasure
for orchestra was composed in 1992 and revised 1996. It was first performed
in 1993 by the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra in Reykjavík and
the Finnish conductor Osmo Vanska. This is the 2nd piece composed
with CALMUS. The new compositional tasks for the program included polyphony
structure and relation and development of musical objects. It was later
re-composed in 1996 and recorded by he Icelandic Symphony Orchestra with
Horia Andreescu from Rumania conducting.
The Chalumeaux-Trio
Nonet
(1995) for chamber orchestra was composed using the compositional program
CALMUS. In the piece, new algorithmic functions are utilized that take as
an input, material structured not unlike raw material of older styles. The
piece was first performed by the Camerarctica chamber orchestra on
the Nordic music days festival in Reykjavík 1996 with Bernard
Wilkinson conducting.
TheIcelandic Symphony Orchestra
Calculus
(1990) for solo flute was commissioned by the Society of Icelandic Composers
for Manuela Wiesler. It was first performed in Dark music Days
in Reykjavík 1991. This is the first piece ever composed with the
help from CALMUS. The basic material for the piece such as pitch, duration,
starting time points (attack) and general melodic development, is constructed
and controlled with the program.
